Our policy cover is for up to £10million and all our clients are covered against fire, theft, natural disaster and accidental damage. The cost of this insurance is covered entirely by Cask.

The cost of warehousing a cask depends very much on the location and the stature of the facility, however, an average cost for a single cask per year would be around £40.

Duty VAT and Taxation

All cask whisky is held under bond in Scotland and as a result is exempt from VAT. At the point at which you decide to bottle and the cask is to be removed from bond, excise duty and VAT will be due. For UK taxpayers, UK Capital Gains Tax is not regarded as being applicable because cask whisky is a “wasting asset” as a result of the “angel’s share” (evaporation).
